The number of British expats who have chosen to live abroad permanently has almost doubled in ten years. Acording to a recent study in 1991, 53, 000 British citezens decided to make their new homes abroad. In 2001 this figure had more than doubled to 107,000 - that is some 2000 new Brits living abroad every week.

According to research the top destinations are English speaking countries with Australia, Spain and America being the top destinations for British expats. According to reasarch thos most likely to leave are those who are young and with no children and thos retiring.

It is expected that the number of British citizens choosing to become part of the British population living abroad is set to continue.
