Is Australia a possibility

I joined this Forum because i had finally decided that i wanted to retire to either New Zealand or Australia.
Talking to members here i finally decided on Oz, but looking into it in more detail, all is not as simple as i thought.
You need alot of savings $500,000 + and another $500,000 + invested in a business account which is much more than i can afford, i suppose there looking for qualified people and not old age pensioners.:twitcy:
What i can do is spend 6 months in Oz and 6 months in the UK which is more than likely what i'll end up doing.
Now all i have to do is find out which part of Oz to spend 6 months in ? i may well end up going from state to state. One thing i do know is that i want to meet some of the great & friendly members that frequent this Forum.

    hi andy, its a bloomin shame you would have to fork out so much money to get here!! what about the aunty you had here in oz?? could you not try and get hold of her and see if she can sponsor you?

    Aunty died but do have cousins in SA may look into that if mother still has their addresses. Been 12yrs since we last contacted them.
    The more i think about it the more 6 months in Oz sounds like a good idea and if it doesn't work out then i shall end up full time in the UK or another country.

    From your photograph it's clear that you're too young to work. If you were old enough, you could get into Oz by having a job waiting for you.

    Andy, it wouldn't have to be 6 in oz and 6 in uk.
    You could for example do 6 in New Zealand.
    I am thinking of the effects of a long distance flight would have every six months. I suppose you could go by boat though some times.
    What's this business account that you refer to? Are you already in a business?

    The main reason for coming back to the UK for 6 months Tony is i have family and property over here. It would be nice to see them sometimes.

    The business is a small carpet & Upholstery cleaning one but i'm handing it over to me nephew on my 60th, 2 1/2 years.
