Once again the UK's entry was a flop!!!

Thankfully I didn't watch it but surely, it's time for the people who select our peformer and song to actually sit down and look at ways we can win the competition.

Yes, I know it's become way too political in recent years with countries voting for their neighbours but still....

We've not won it since Katrina & The Waves in 1997!!!

Hello everybody!

We recently moved from Xfinity to FIOS and since then my BBC iplayer (connected by VPN) only downloads to the Windows Player, which takes 5x times as long. Streaming works but is usually interrupted so often for buffering that it becomes unwatchable. :arghh:
I have already un- and reinstalled. No change.

Is anybody familiar with this problem?
Any ideas?

Thank you so much.

Ok so a little bit about what I do, I work in IT support currently providing level 2 application support to the Asia Pacific region and I am located in Singapore. My contract is ending soon and I have been planning to leave Singapore for a while and Canada has always been on a place I would like to work in.
I just don't get it, the PNP visas ask that you have a job offer before you can apply but no company in Canada will offer me a job without a visa :arghh: here in Singapore you come on visit visa apply for jobs if you get a job then apply for work visa which takes a couple of days im guessing Canada isn't the same?

Not sure the next step to take I hear that Canada is immigrant friendly and I am willing to move anywhere in Canada not to be picky but im banging my head against the wall now, I have posted on job sites and linkedin but as mentioned no one will take me serious because I need to be sponsored as I don't/cant have a visa.

Any advice?

Cheers in advance

Hi everyone, I've been looking around and haven't found any situation that remotely resembles mine, so I thought I'd create an account, post it here and hope. Basically, I'm the child of an expat, both my parents are British citizens, but my mother claims birth and blood, neither of them has lived in the UK for seventeen years. Although I was born in Britain and spent the my first two years there, the rest of my live has been spent abroad in Lebanon (with almost yearly visits back).
Now that I've reached my university years I'm considering going back to live there permanently and continue my education. The thing is that, if I go, I would be operating with very little parental financial support so I would have to rely on a student loan to fund my degree. Unfortunately, I do not know if I would be eligible as neither of my parents own property there and I have found nothing official on expats in general, let alone half-breed almost adults who've lived abroad all their lives, so I've no idea what I would be entitled to if I went back. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated :-)

Hi all,
I've just come back from the US embassy in London with my immigration visa approved which is brilliant news. I'm just on here seeking advice on how to get my gear stateside, I do not have a great deal to take, maybe four or five bags but I would also like to take my skis and bicycle with me. My wife lives in Colorado and I'm moving over there to be with her, she is also expecting our first child any day now so as you can imagine she wants me out the ASAP!

I have looked on the British Airways web site (as i like flying with them) and they will give me one free bag and will then charge £35 for the first bag then £75 for any additional bags. I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheaper alternative to get bits and bobs over there?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi all

I'm landing in Cairns on the 10th June and hoping to start my working/travelling trip from there and work my way down the East Coast. Does anyone know what the job situation is like in Cairns/Gold Coast? I keep hearing how expensive Australia is. I have a few thousand saved for 9 months travel, was hoping to work along the way, maybe work 2 months in each place. Is this realistic? Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks so much

Hi all,

I have previously worked in australia in 2008/2009 on a working holiday visa as a boilermaker. The problem is the last job I worked self employed earning roughly $45000 I had to leave the country and planned to return back. This did not happen and I have not paid tax on this amount. How do I go about repaying the tax back as I am planning to return on a 189/190 visa just going through vetassess assessment. Also I worked PAYE and earned roughly$35000 paying tax and super. I have tried to lodge a tax return online E-tax but unable to download it.

Thanks for any help

Hi Everyone,

Hopefully we are posting in the right thread, we have just signed up and wanted to say hi to everyone. Firstly, just to let you know that my name is Scott - I am the owner of a website called Home Comforts Goods, www.homecomfortsgoods.co.uk I'm not here to fish for business. If you want to have a look at the site then please do, if you just want to chat about things in the UK then that's fine too.

We genuinely differ from the other websites claiming to supply you with all your British goods, I have spent time working and living overseas with my wife, we understand that no-one does a weekly shop of 100% British goods. But if you want to treat yourself or your family from time-to-time then we are here.

Also, we obviously do all the classics, the Heinz, Walkers, PG Tips, etc but we also pride ourselves on catering for everyone - we have a HUGE selection of Soap & Glory toiletries, Duchy Originals food, birthday and greetings cards and also we are doing 10% off of orders (excl delivery) in May.

Hope you are all well, you'll probably be pleased to know that its raining in the UK today! Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, but as we say, we are new here!
