I hope those trying to escape Australia manage to sell up soon.

Absolutely, house prices are dropping like stones in some areas. Hopefully our place will sell reasonably quickly once it goes on the market.

An interesting article. Hopefully australia can weather the economic storm that the rest of the world seems to be suffering. Another year should tell.

Well it's not looking great but at least the mining sector will do well as long as China does well.

I'm not sure they will, China may be able to sustain it's own economy, but that's not going to be easy if everything is slow for the rest of the world, is it? Their export market will inevitably suffer, which will slow the pace of things there if that keeps up long enough.

Think you should have sold a couple of years ago Chris, the market is not going up at all and the buyers are looking for bargains now. Becoming a buyers market. Seeing a few realisation sales around as well. There is a house that was built about three years ago on acreage and its been for sale ever since, realisation has come and gone and still the bank is holding on to it. Unless there is push at the bottom end the market will struggle. I never believe blurb I believe what I see, I remember house prices in Dandenong in the recession we had to have being sold for less than their CIV on the rate notice. It can happen again.

We weren't really in a position to sell a couple of years ago. Fortunately houses are holding their value pretty well in this area and seem to be selling quite quickly, the average for this area is 6 weeks I think I read. We are going to price to sell. The good thing is that it is very much a buyers market in the UK.
