    Australians happiest

Australians are the happiest in the world, as per a survey done by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). For the same they have taken into consideration a combination of factors like income, education and health and a total of 34 nations were studied on these parameters.
On the list of top 10 nations were Canada, Sweden, New Zealand, Norway, Denmark, the United States, Switzerland, Netherlands and Luxembourg.
When asked as to what is it that was making the Australians so happy even when there were troubles, Prime Minister Julia Gillard said that while the world sees a high level of economic well being, it is tough for the nationals as the cost of living is pretty high.
As per the index prepared by OECD, some 75 per cent of Australians were satisfied with their lives and it was much above the OECD average of 59 per cent

Interesting you bring that up Aldo, the UK figures are alot higher than shown,

Changes in the way coroners record verdicts for unnatural or unexpected deaths may have led to an underestimation of suicide rates in England and Wales, according to researchers, making it hard to judge whether suicide prevention strategies are working and potentially hiding "the effects of the economic crisis on suicide".

Still the UK is good at fudging figures !!

On top of that not only are Australia higher up but also New Zealand, USA, Canada and even France which is apparently the best country in the world to live in. This is also of concern.

you're right (for once) the stats don't add up. for example, last week i was in bexhill having lunch with one of the uk's wealthiest men and we was both agreeing that the media convinces people into believing they are in a recession. Whilst my kids where wrecking their 5million pounds home we where pondering the true state of affairs over a glass or two of wine, where in fact no one is actually eating tarmac out of the gutter, its just that we are used to so much more and some are having it tough adjusting to having to tighten the old belt. Back in the real world this week i'm pondering the issue with brickies and laourers and we come the same conclusion, no starving to death, just instead of euro disney , it's the London Dungeons..

    we'll survive..
