Two weeks ago, the city of Brisbane recorded its coldest December day for 123 years.

If only...its a slow starter this summer for sure but the 28 to 30d suits me fine...ramping it up to 37 by the end of next week here in Perth and already seen a few bushfires. Whats it like in your neck of the woods at the moment?

for the middle of winter its quite mild. I finish work on thursday so it can snow as much as it likes then, in fact the kids have never seen snow (appart from the mountain tops of the sierra navada from a distance). Its very xmassy now which is nice, i just don't "get" where all these people come from and where they are for the rest of the year.

'Summer' has been one extreme to the other. I really have grown to dislike the hot weather so the cooler days and nights we are having are good. They have forecast some wild weather again this summer. I remember well being told by a forum numpty how it was great in Australia as you could always plan ahead, yeah right LOL

Well I will agree with said numpty to a point......here in Perth the sunny warm conditions are quite predictable for a portion of the year. We were whinging about rain and wind in Spring when it should have been nice...how very dare it!

Yes but the assumption was that you could just plan ahead with no fear of being rained off. It wouldn't have been so bad if he had actually lived here

I know what you mean...but in Perth you really can plan ahead.....especially in Summer. Rain is an absolute rarity. Possibly not the same in the other states. Very wet here in Winter as a rule and the rain continued through Spring this year unusually, but in 3 years here my experience is that you can plan ahead at least most of the time...(but not in Winter/Early Spring)

Yes absolutely, it very much depends on where you live. Just my own personal opinion, I wouldn't live in Perth for any amount of money but it obviously suits others. Here in Brisbane you certainly can't plan ahead with any real confidence. You could during the drought but not now the weather is back to 'normal'.
