FAMILIES already suffering from raging energy bills could soon be forced to endure power blackouts as part of a strategy to rein in electricity prices. The Sunday Telegraph can reveal gas bills will also double over the next five years and electricity prices, already surging out of control, will continue to skyrocket unless drastic measures are taken.

And Mr Sims warned of a further 10 per cent hike on the way from the introduction of the carbon tax.

Apparently its because they have just laid out a load of money on poles and wires!!

It confused me that a country that has more than its fair share of cyclones still has an antiquated system of "poles and wires".
I may just be a thicko brickie but can't they just bury the cables?

I have never understood why power cables are above ground, some places now are putting them underground but that is the minority.

When Western Power make me cut my palms back to avoid touching the power lines I see red....they look like overpruned sticks! Get em underground for fecks sake! Save my palms.....
