Thread: Napier, Hawkes Bay

We were lucky whilst we were visiting our friends in NZ my husband got a great job offer. So as soon as we sell the house we are going to NZ on work visas. We have found the housing market so frustrating - people making offers and then pulling out!! Anyone else stuck in the UK? Or has anyone else chosen Napier as their destination?

Napier is a nice place in NZ and lovely architecture, art deco.

Thanks for the nice messages :) We saw Auckland airport on the way to Napier - didnt get to look around though. We are really excited and nervous at the same time. We have good friends that already live out there and they love it. We were in NZ in February and the Art Deco weekend was on - it was brilliant. Everyone really was in the spirit - which is rare over here.

We are hoping to be emigrating to NZ early next year. We have two very young children and were considering the Napier or Hastings area. Any opinions - would this be a good move? We were planning to buy around an acre of land and build our house. We also plan to run a business from there too so we need a fair amount of land.

Would be really grateful for any opinions or advice.

Well we are hoping to be out there soon - providing our house sale goes through ! We live in South Manchester at the minute - we went to see our friends in February who live in Havelock North. All I can say is we totally fell in love with the place - it was stunning, clean, calm, and we felt so safe. Our son will be in intermediate school when we go and he cant wait either. When he is 12 he will be able to volunteer at Marineland so he is looking forward to that. Plus he thinks it is amazing he can drive at 15!!! ha ha ha :)
