Call me a liar - I kill you!!Not really
Anyone who seriously uses the weather as an important reason move to another country is crazy, we have come to realise in recent years that the weather is of so little importance it hardly registers. Loads do put it right at the top of the list amazingly.
Have to say Melbourne's weather is sh1t, although for the first few years it didn't bother us and we still found it warm, once you acclimatise it is blinkin freezing. Cairns is a totally different story, we had heard all these comments and read all these posts about how terrible it would be and how humid. I really thought I would suffer. We also arrived in wet season and thought oh no we are going to get nothing but rain for 6 months of the year, yes we did get the rain but not at all like we thought and it wasn't constant. Humidity was bad over Christmas but still you live in an aircon building/ work in aircon (unless you are a tradie, not many of them up here) and jump in your car (aircon) and to the shops (aircon) so it really didn't affect us at all. The lowest temp has been 25 degrees and until last week we had not seen a drop of rain for about 8 weeks probably more. Last week we had 3 days which were grey/overcast and the odd shower, but to be honest we needed it as the grass was dying etc. So not all of Oz is wet and miserable. Probably like the UK weather up North I could probably count on one hand how many dry days we had, but the South always seemed to have good weather.
OMG ,,,There is noooo way i could handle that now, lol. Where is it?
Im one of the crazy ones Chris mentions as the weather did play a big factor in our migration plans, and i can say is a box succesfully ticked.
Thankfully its not that bad here either way (unbearably hot or freezing cold) and other than this last 12 month of freak storms and rain it as been pretty damn good to us so far,,,lol.

Remember the road to success is always under construction...
Well the weather is high on my list of reasons for emigrating but thats because a lot of things that constitute a good lifestyle (for us) depend on it. Id say 6 months of the year are pretty much perfect, 3 months are too hot on occasion during the day but perfect at night and 3 months are too cold at night but lovely in the day except for the rainy days which we accept as badly needed.
I have no doubt that I wouldnt 'love' Perth half as much if the weather was like that of the UK. Its half the appeal, everything looks and feels fantastic when the sun is a cloudless blue.
It's not really accurate to say I dont like it here, I got here when I was 18 months old and grew up here. I had a great childhood and did all the things kids do, my wife grew up in England and did all the same stuff and the weather didnt really help or hinder either of us. For us it really has nothing to do with not liking it here although my wife has never wanted to live here, it is more to do with England offering us what we want out of life that this country can't give us. Most of my posts are in reply to many of the happy clappers found elsewhere that cant or wont see even the slightest problem with this country.
