Anyone have any regrets about moving to Oz??? Apart from doing it sooner!!! LOL

Not many - I try not to look back and think "would I have done that differently"

It was very tough when both Mums in the UK were sick and eventually passed away.The distance was awful.Individually Mrs Tyke and I made many trips back to the UK.

The only other real regret is that my Dad was not alive to see us move here,he would have loved it here.

I think that would be one of mine actually. Parents are alive and well and following me here!!! My grandparents, all but 1 died before we moved. My mums parents had family and connections here which i think is why my Mum feels such an affinity towards Australia. They would have probably come out for 6 months a year and loved it.
My paternal grandad died before we started all this but my paternal grandmother saw us through the whole procedure up to the point that we bought the house we are in. She liked to write "proper letters" and not emails. She was computer literate as far as emails go and that was great to see. She saw us through everything + knew how happy we were.

I can't say I wish we'd have done it years ago because we probably weren't ready for it. I regret that my dad is on his own in UK, and although he comes for holidays he's not in a position financially to move here for good. However, he was a driving force in our coming and not missing the opportunity (as he did 'cos my mum wouldn't leave her mother), he always regreted that.

Mine seems to be along the lines of others.
My dad died in January 04 so we decided that rather sitting around depressed over christmas/newyear and the first anniversary of his death, we would bring my mum to Aus to visit my dads brother & sister. It was a very difficult and emotional trip but my uncle took me to all the places that my dad had told us stories about..........he joined the merchent Navy as soon as he was 17 and so had many stories!!
We fell in love with Aus during that first trip and came straight back and started to look into emigrating. Two years almost to the day after we set off on that trip we left the UK with our pr visa's in our passports.
My dad told us for many years to get our arses out to Aus but having younger kids we went to Florida instead.........I sooo wish now I had listened to my dad and come out to Aus for a holiday sooner.
I live in a beautiful part of the world and there not a day goes by that I don't think to myself .........my dad would have loved it here and really wish that he could see the place, he came to Aus many times and loved the place.
Sorry for getting a bit deep n meaningful but this big regreat has been on my mind a lot lately, I think because we are about to move into a house that we have designed and had built on a piece of land that we chose and I just wish he was here to share in our achievments with us.

The weather here is making up for it though.

He will be sharing it!!! I always think that they are "there" if you know what I mean! My Grandad was always fiddling with everything when he was alive and we are always finding pictures on the wall left wonky etc!!! I swear thats him!!!:yes:

I cam when I was 17 and so had to come with my parents. Hvae kids now who have an Australian father and now divorced I cant take kids back to UK until they are older. I somply love the UK I think about it every day I dont not like Aus I just dont consider it home and I have been here 19 years so that is pretty sad !!! Will get back home to Yorkshire as soon as I can.
