    Rip Off Australia

Probably wont come as a surprise to many people, we hear the excuse of small population to explain away these massive differences but it's absurd. No wonder more and more people shop online.

Comes as no surprise to me. It's at the far end of the world compared to Europe. Less people, smaller market and buying power? Higher transport costs?
I think more people shop online generally now too, not just in Oz but everwhere.

It's not like the US is a greatest place on earth to live when compared to a lot of places either, but its huge import market does keep a lot of things relatively cheap to buy, even if most of it is made in China. I wouldn't say that things are necessarily cheaper here than in the UK though.

If a person is canny they will always find a bargain. I actually see no difference in the things that I would buy in the UK to the price of similar here in Aus. I do buy on line though because for some reason I can pick up stuff from the UK cheaper than what it is being sold in the Uk for, excluding the vat experience. My daughter for example buys dresses and clothes for a lot less than UK people are paying. Its just so much cheaper for companies to use the web to sell things. No retail experience required means more dollars in pocket of everyone.

If we want a retail experience wherever we are we must expect to pay for it.

I did find many things cheaper in the UK when I was back there, especially food. Clothes were also cheap. Something I do find cheaper here is electronics like TV's etc, they seem to get cheaper here first by about a year for some reason. Almost everything for my particular hobby/work is much cheaper in the UK.
