Thread: We are back

After 5 weeks down under in Oz and NZ we have returned to the UK with the urge to go back permanently.

We liked Adelaide, ChCh,Havelock,Lake Taupo, and Bethlehem nr Tauranga amongst others.

Now what oh what is our plan now that we have a goal ?
Anyone with any advice for a soon to be 53 year old please add them on here.

I thought there was an age limit and I was under the impression it's 45 which I'm sure is not what you want to hear.

Yes there is an age limit of 45, but there are also non age specific visas .
there's also the over55 visa for retirement.....i think

It used to be $500,000
You have to be pretty rich to have the government hold that money for however long and still have enough to come to Oz.

Hi Mr Detective
If I was you I'd think twice about it and choose somewhere where there is less xenophobia; cost of living, especially housing, way too high to even think of retiring, even having moved when pound was at $3; pension will run out before you can say Boo and there is a real ageism problem, especially for Poms, here in employment.
We are ping ponging back to Europe to retire with Euro in our favour, at least I can get proper beer there.
