      Can i just point out that this thread and the majority of above comments were made in 2009 ,as we are now nearing the end of 2012 the figures etc are more than likely out of date.

      For example, if TACD had gone to Australia at the time of the original post her GB pounds would have bought her about AUD 2.25. If she went tomorrow she would only get AUD 1.52 and with real estate in most of the uk being stagnant over the same period and the cost of living rocketing in Australia means there are a lot of factors to take into account before making the move.
      That said the draw towards Australia is too much and gets to the point where you start convincing yourself that Australia is the land of milk and honey then the best option is to just go there and see for yourself and live it rather that just talk about it.
