If you dont mind me asking what is this????? And could this be good news or bad
I hear that under the new laws some NOC O codes will be processed, the ones that are in shortage!
This means that NOC O roles not in shortage may not even get to the process stage and fee returned.
This is all linked with CEC to try to reduce the 900,000 SWP backlog, not fair I guess but this is the situation.
For some it is good news as the correct codes will move forward or others they will take longer at best, at worst not get processed at all
Phil
Thank you for getting back to me, oh is on the list of the noc in the construction industry. How do you find out which codes are being processed.
Hi Adele + Phil
Keep checking out www.cic.gc.ca Not sure when they will get to updating it but it was changed from Feb 08 so you would think someone has the new list. I will let you both know if we hear anything at this end
Sorry I cant help you both as I just checked and its still the 2006 list.

A snap election was called for Oct.14, so basically, everything is on hold --the conservatives passed the amendments to empower the Immigration Minister to decide who will get priority re visa applications. the liberals and other parties oppose this part of the law. The list of immigration priorities may only happed if the conservatives manage to win with a big enough majority. Otherwise the liberals and other opposition parties may repeal part of the law.
This is my understanding of the present situation.
You might try' canadian immigration 2008 regulations for skilled workers '
or
'chronicle of changes in the canadian immigration rules.'
As far as I can see the list has not yet been released to visa offices, probably won't until after the election
Sorry, that's the best I can do!
Good luck

After the election: the Conservative party remains in office, with a few more seats in Parliament, but not enough for a majority. There will be , no doubt, a shuffle of ministers, some of whom were not re-elected.
In a meeting with Mr. Sarkozy, President of the E.U. , and the Prime Minister of Canada , a deal was apparently proposed that would harmonize regulations, leading to a free flow of Canadian and European workers across the Atlantic Ocean, because of shared values. Take that for what it is worth. In other words, wait and see.
Sorry that is the best I can do.
Hope the wait won't be too long.
Best of luck
Liz
Noticed in today's newspaper that 38 in demand occupations have been posted on the website for Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
www.cic.gc.ca
They come into effect immediately. Skilled workers whose occupation is on the list will be fast tracked for acceptance as permanent residents. Under the new rules, applicants should receive a decision within 6 - 12 months.
I got this information from the Toronto Star newspaper.
