Brits wanting to move to Canada

    Hi

So I'm originally from the US, and married a Brit and moved to the UK a few years back, and now we want to move to Canada.

So my wife is British, and I'm British/American.

I used to be an Electrical Apprentice in the states, so learned everything electrical, but don't have a degree or anything, and now currently work in a warehouse.

My wife has a University degree in lighting design and lighting rigging.

Question is, is there actually any way for us to get visas to go there?

I thought I read once, you could work temporarily for a certain amount of time, and get the employer to hire you permanently?

Any one be able to shed some light on this?

    Thanks!

Hi itsawhalefish, welcome to the forum. Skilled migration to most countries can be a bit of a minefield and I expect Canada is no exception. It's probably worthwhile having an initial consult with a registered migration agent to assess your chances for getting a visa. There should only be a minimal (if any) charge for an initial chat. If you want to look into it yourself, a good place to start is the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra...lled/index.asp
With regards temporary work, You can read about the 'Temporary Foreign Worker Program' which allows foreign workers to enter Canada to work temporarily in jobs that help Canadian employers address skill shortages for up to 4 years (I think) @ http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp

Thank you, I will try that tonight!
