Thread: Can anyone answer this question?

Is it true if You do leave Britain that you can claim the tax back that you have paid for this year???? Someone told me this, but thought I would ask the people who have already left whether you can claim your tax back! Hoping to leave and hope to go to Canada fingers crossed, would be nice if you can oh is in high tax band so pays quite alot of tax each week.

Hi Sheena thanks for your reply, thats good to know. So as soon as you know you are leaving you should claim it back, does it take long for the tax people to get it back to you. Should you apply months before you leave or sooner???Sorry for all the questions as I knew nothing about it untill a friend of mine said she thought you could get it back, that is good to know like you said every little helps. I work aswell could I claim mine back aswell. I have got to say this is a brilliant site. Thanks again for your help. I think it really helps when you can ask people like yourself questions who have already been through the process, and then you can answer alot of the questions, thanks again.

We were not aware of this and suprised our accountant didnt tell us. Do you know if there is a time limit to claim back as we are 2 years in
