    Electrician moving to Canada

I am an English electrician with 8 years experience and 17th edition. My wife and I are considering moving to Canada (London, Ontario).

What do I have to do to become a licensed electrician in Canada. Am I able to do a course in the UK before moving to Canada? Will I be able to work with the experience I have?

    Thanks, Gary.

you will have to take a licence exam once you come to canada. some colleges offer licence courses which run for about 10 weeks once a week. you can do personal one on one which i did and it got me through i think better equiped, as the guy had a good idea what was going to be asked. the exam is all multi choice, there are allot of terms which are different and you will need to learn them, as with the different types of cables (wire as they say) theres one for a start, unlike having to take new additions as they come out , once you have your licence all you have to do is renew it every 3 years with a payment of about 70 dollars, no exams to take, you are expected to keep up with changes and laws etc.
