    Ex Forces

my husband is leaving the military next year and our plan is to re locate to Canada in the next few years once we have saved. Were both British but neither has qualifications in the skilled list. Is there any porgrams for ex service men? We are looking at him to complete a welders course next year either way. Thank you

    Hi Bella
Welcome to the forum, could he not get a transfer? Sometimes it's easier than trying to get in other ways.

Hi just wanted to add that 15 years ago, I left the British Army and moved to Canada after two attempts. The first attempt was made while we lived in Germany and our application for PR status was rejected. We thought we would never get here. However when we returned to the UK my wife went to the library and got a book simply called, "Emigrating to Canada". Reading this book made us realize that even though we had filled out our initial application accurately; with minor adjustments to job descriptions more points were gained.
Even when we got our applications accepted and started the process, it can still take a long time...... the earlier you start the process the better.
I would suggest that you go to www.cic.gc.ca and take a look around the website, you may find a lot of helpful assistance there.
I hope that something I have said helps.
Canada is an amazing country and I am now a citizen and even though I have visited he UK twice in the last 15 years, I have no desire to go back and live there.
    Good luck.
