    job availability for firefighters in canada?

    Hi there, I am a firefighter based in the uk i have a wife and two small boys, i am very interested in emigrating to canda to work as a firefighter but don't really know where to get started with the whole process.
    If anyone has any advice to give me as to where to approach for job availability i would be so very grateful. I am not sure how the process works do i secure a job in canada first or apply for a visa to work???
    Any advice would be so helpful!!!!
    many thanks look forward to your response!!!

    Go for it

    [quote=getusoutofhere;3847]Hi there, I am a firefighter based in the uk

    Hi Getusoutofhere

    Looks like Sheena has been busy- so if your successful with the jobs aspect and can get a positive LMO (thats labour market opinion) you could be on your way faster than you think on a work permit. Then just apply for your permenent residency as soon as you can while working in Canada. Dont hang around with this as it can be a bumpy ride with paperwork and medicals.

    We left the UK 2 years ago on a work permit and got our perm res after 18 months. So far all is good out here but we had been out lots of times and done our homework. Easy for us because had a relative here to stay with.;

    Good Luck with your plans and there are a few of us on here from all over Canada with different experiences who have been through the process so just ask if unsure.

    Hi Adele

    Yes - it was granted for 1 year with a letter from my employer saying the position would be mine on the successful permanent resedency application. If your PR is not complete you apply for an extention to your work permit for another year. Hope this helps

    Hi getusoutofhere

    Yes we are living the dream and our kids are only a little bit older than yours - they took to Canada like ducks to water and are so happy. Its hard to get your head around a few issues as its a big change but thats what we expected anyway. You have to rebuild your careers and its hard to get in at first. I know a few out here who are not having a good time and one or two comment on here now and again but we are working hard at it and sure it will all come good. We never expected everything to just drop into place on arrival but with time I'm sure it will be a far better quality of life for both us and the kids.

    Best of luck to you guys

    Andy + Team Canada
