Moving to Lethbridge next year, really nervous.

Hi everyone. My husband has got a job as a long distance lorry driver, and we are hoping to move over to Lethbridge next year. The thing is he has to go over about six month before us to build up the money. I'am really worried if i can cope being apart from him for that long. :noxmas: Has anybody else done the same thing? or is it just us? we just can't do it any other way as haven't got the finances. Were going over for 2 week in jan to check things out. Any advice about anything to do with moving over, etc... would really, really be appreciated :emoticon-signxmas: Michelle.

Seems along time to be away from your partner Michelle.

Can't offer any advice to you as i have never come across this before.

It maybe worth trolling through the Brits In Canada threads and pick out
the members who have already made the move then post them a message.
Liz H & Andy are 2 that spring to mind.

Good Luck i hope it all turns out for the best.

    Hi del

Good luck with the job hunt, I came over for 3 weeks back in 2006 and got a job - we all landed in Feb 07 and have now got our perm res so it can be done It was a bumpy ride though.

    Hi Michelle

Great news with the job but a shame your going to be apart for a while. Time flies and hopefully you follow out quickly. We did the same regarding job but the housing market in UK was totally different back in 2006 and sold house in a matter of weeks. We have no regrets and have settled in well with a few bumps on the way. We got the perm res a couple of months back so go for it as I'm sure it will work out. Any time you have a question just post on here I will try and help

    Regards

    Moving to Lethbridge

    Hi Mich,
My experience of Lethbridge is outdated. It was the second place in Alberta that I went to.( 1959 - 60)The first was way out among the sage brush, or 'the sticks', ( 1957 - 59 ) because that was where we were offered a job. We had a two year contract, my now ex oh, and I . I loved Lethbridge, and if I were to want to go back to Alberta, that would be the first place I would check out.
Do you really have to be apart? Is it really more economical to have two separate households? I don't know your situation, but if I were in your position , I think I would make every effort to try to be together and make the best of it. It may not be exactly what you want, but you could build on it together.

If I can help , please ask

    Liz
