Not feeling blue but happy to chin wag with you.. I am a single Mum here in BC, as the Father (ex) failed to take responsibility until recently on seeing a cute pic of him (very shallow I know), but there it is. We will remain here where my Son was born (Canada) as here is definitely better though I will always miss aspects of the UK, and the ex has opted to stay in the UK as no desire to live here.. it should work out just fine :)

Hello blackcomb, good to hear from you. Sad story you have there. How old is your son? I have a four year old english daughter who absolutely loves Montreal, but husband and I are looking to move in the New Year hopefully, but in the process of researching new areas in Canada. Can anyone give us some ideas? Not always so unhappy, but have my moments when things start to look hopeless (at least once a week)! I am from Wales and miss the beautiful coastline, but not much else. What prompted you to move to Canada anyways?

Well all good comes out of something bad and it is not that bad this end, I feel I had a lucky escape by not marrying my child's father at least and from having lived here already. My Son is an infant and his father did not want anything to do with us as he is very selfish in personality anyway and that is not just me who knows this, in any case, he also did not make the first move recently when he acknowledged him as his son, I did by sending him an ecard fathers day card on my sons behalf, and my ex then asked if I had any evidence he existed which was a pathetic thing to ask seeing as he had tons of evidence he existed from all the scans Isent him during my pregnancy plus pictures of me pregnant up to when he was born, and he was emailed just after he was born but failed to take any interest. Needless to say, here I have sole custody and am keeping it and have given him visitation rights for my sons sake, but I intend to give him supervised visitations too for my sons sake and well being, unfortunately for his Dad he is not one to be trusted. I think knowing what he is like for 3 yrs is all valid too.

I moved over 3.5 yrs ago permanently, my profession is the same line of work, and also for the lifestyle and outdoor sports. Here is better for children, and safer I feel though no where is 100% safe so you still have to watch your children obviously. Here I can work less and be with my child more than if I were in the UK (that is just one good other reason for being here).

Wales is lovely for sure and I miss single track mountain biking there on natural non-man made trails, and I too miss there and other parts of UK, better built houses (our old ones at least) etc, but lifestyle here is what keeps me here. Also I love the weather here on the West Coast, long hot summer days, far better than UK in that way too and not to mention the beaches for swimming which is also lovely and clean and warm once you are in, mountains for skiing etc.
Sorry to hear you are not so happy at your end, maybe try moving here you may find you are happier to live in BC :)
