Hope you, family and friends are all ok. Is this the first one they have ever had?
It was nowhere near me but the Iberian peninsular has a history of earthquakes, not usually big ones i terms of richter scales activity but because of the abundance of old buildings they can be quite damaging.

What a shame that some of those stunning buildings were destroyed, especially the church.

Our old neighbours in Mazarron (approx 1 hr south of alicante) felt this and said shelves,doors etc began to shake ,it was certainly a scarey experience for them.
