Thread: Eco-villages

Does anyone have any experience of eco-villages?
They seem to be a concept that is taking hold at the moment, and I would like to know of any in Spain or Portugal in particular.

I don't know of any eco-villages here in central Portugal but there are lots of eco small holdings

I've studied/worked/lived in ecovillages in Europe and America, and for the most part one can find that excellent innovative approaches to living are being explored by some great people. Obviously this varies from community to community.

I know there are communities like this in Portugal and Spain (can't remember the names off the top of my head) and you can find all the details out at the official ecovillage directory which is called GEN (Global Ecovillage Network) http://gen.ecovillage.org/.

by Jonathan Dawson (a great man who also happens to head GEN).

I've just remembered that Tamera is the most famous ecovillage in Portugal. I've never been there myself, but i've met some lovely people from there!
