Hi
LD Ferries from Dover to Bolougne are the cheapest i could find for my van 6m long x 2.8m high for £38.00. Would advise you use a Sat Nav when travelling through Europe, takes all the stress out of driving. You can also use google earth to map out your journey and it will give you the distance, handy to work out fuel costs, and time it takes to get from A to B. Remember to add in coffee breaks etc to the time shown. Prices for accomodation can be anywhere from 200-500 euros per month depends where you are and what your looking for. Do you speak the language? Always remember to haggle for prices if they think you are from the UK they will probably put the price up. Most important always get everything in writing and shop around for several prices. Are you going to build, buy or are you renting long term?
my fiancee speaks the language i have a sat nav i will go to le harve in francefrom portsmouth as its nearer for me it take to long to get to dover what countrys did you drive through as there is several routes on google paris then austria or greece ect
my fiancee did not get his visa for italy just as well maybee after the earth quake so were going to turkey now for a while anyway as its easy for him to get a visa for there and we will get married there and that will help him in the future to get visas easier
I moderate a Turkish Forum for UK expats.
Would that be any use to you.
Hi
The route depends on what port you are starting off at on the European side . I punch into the Sat Nav the location i want to get to and it finds the quickest route. Yes a terrible tragedy the earthquake, part of the reason i opted for Sardinia as it has no earthquakes, and makes it more cost effective when building as you do not need to use shutterd concrete. I know a lot of Brits buy in Tuscany and Abruzzo but my question was where do the Italians go on holiday. A vast majority of them either go to Sardinia or Sicily which in turn makes it a good investment for rental.
