      It's all true what you're saying, Jack. :)

      Plenty of people are desperate to move out here to the US thinking it's the land of milk and honey, only to go home disillusioned after a couple of years when things don't go the way they expect for some reason.
      It's pretty sad really.
      Even a lot of the "natives" are having to cash in their 401K to live on while the times are tough here. You're right, it's not a great time to give it all up and jump ship/countries unless you're completely and financially sound, especially if you have a job that's a steady source of income in the UK.

      My Cost of living for 2 grown ups and 2 kids

      E700 a month for 2 bed 2 bath 2 story town house 2 mins from beach walking distance to shops bars and restaurants, includes community fees, water and taxes
      E39 plus call costs usually about E90 in total a month for phone line and internet (6mb and unlimited downloads) comes with free UK number so folk in uk can call anytime on UK local rate.
      Kids school we pay for kids school dinners and they stay on after school for activities and help with homework ect - about 200 a month.
      Electricity is about E100 a month.
      I'm self employed and "autonomino" which costs me about E250.

      I'm sure there's more but cant think at the moment.
      Anyting in particular just ask.

      Oh yes.

      Beer in bars ranges from 1-1.5 euros for a half pint (avoiding the tourist traps) and a lot of them do happy hour now.
      beer from the supermarket is E6 for a 24 pack
      A decent red wine (rioja) E1.25
      A trolly of shopping for a week for us comes to about E90 - E110 (mercadona)

      Thank you for sharing Aldo, can I ask how long have you been in Spain and have the prices rose dramatically since you have been there?

      Coming up to 10 years and yes the prices have risen a lot especially petrol.
