Walked out our front door today to find a 4 foot snakeskin. Mr Skink thinks it belongs to a cobra (yikes!!!)
Me thinks would make a nice pair of shoes or handbag

glad you found it not me , even if it was only the skin
Just goes to show how dangerous it is over there no matter where you are.
BE CAREFULL
Bit nicer than walking outside your house and finding the actual snake - WHich presumably must still be around!
On Tv Yesterday they had found a natural Antidote for the venom of a Cobra bite and it's a plant thats grown widely in all hot countries where venomous snakes are found.
Blimey skink - impressive photo but I'd be freaking out that the cobra might still be about!I don't mind snakes but coming across them unexpectedly makes most people nervous!
Just something you put up with here and it's extremely rare (I touch bamboo) for a cobra to attack a human. I've just done a search online for Phuket and cobras and cannot find any reports. We give any snakes a wide berth here, whether we know they're harmless or not (sometimes haven't a clue). If they're about, they're just looking for food and they don't eat humans. Not to say I haven't been freaked out by 'em though.
Better to have an "open" garden here so snakes can escape easily. That's when they get angry, if they feel they are trapped.
End of the nature lesson.
Anyway, traveller, I'd be more freaked out by earthquakes and bush fires I think.
I will give it a miss, I get freaked if i see a spider
There a snake here in Western Australia called the death adder - very poisonous and cunning, it won't slither away like most other snakes. It burries itself in leaves or sand etc and waits for passing food and then strikes. 7th most deadliest snake in the world apparently.
