Professional looking to move to America

Hi, I'm a qualified social worker with over 8 years experience looking to move to America next year. I've researched how to get my qualifications verified but any other advice would be appreciated. I'm wondering is there a shortage of social workers out there like England? Is there areas that I'm more likely to get employment than others? My initial thoughts are Chicago but I'm open to ideas.
      thanks in advance
