Thread: Social work in America

Hello all,

I'm hoping to tap your accumulated wisdom. My wife and I are looking into living in America. My wife is a qualified social worker and we were wondering if anybody knew of any recruitment agencies that helps people find this type of work in the states?

Sorry but I'm not aware of any agencies like that - has your wife made inquiries through her current agency to find a comparable one here in the US?

She's currently employed by a local council but shes aware that there are agencies in Australia that help social workers move there (Some of her colleagues have done so) so I thought there might be similar stuff in the states but internet searches didn't turn anything up so I thought I'd try on here.

I'm guessing that there's a linking agency in Australia because they're part of the Commonwealth. The only thing I found with a quick Google search was the National Association of Social Workers - not sure if they have employment/vacancies online but there's the link:

Sorry to be the killjoy, but without suitable status to live and work here, the job search is moot. You are extremely unlikely to be able to secure such status through your profession.
