      Thinking of a move.

      Hi everyone,

I have searched many sites including U.S Government sites on this topic but its so confusing.

I would like to move to Boston as i have been there many times and love the place.
I don't have any family out there and have a family of my own.

I am a carpenter by trade and speak fluent English and Spanish.
      Please help with this confusion.

      Many thanks in advance.

What were you thinking of doing in the US?
You haven't given us a lot to go on, really.
Is your spouse a US citizen, by any chance? Do you have plenty of money to invest in a business venture? Do you have a degree or specialised skills apart from your carpentry?
If the answer to the above is "no", then you're going to have a problem getting a visa to move over here.
Of course there's the diversity lottery... Were you born in Ireland by any chance?

Was thinking of a recruitment company. I have qualifications in the recruitment sector. I already have a website in the UK.
My wife is also british with administration and child care qualifications. I have a little money to invest to help with my recruitment company and i was born in england.

      Thanks for the reply Sid

      Hi and welcome :)

I am afraid Carpentry, recruitment, admin and childcare aren't going to qualify for a work visa.

If you were thinking of setting up your own business in recruitment, then that may be possible (very slim chance). You would have to come up with a good business plan including how many american's you intend to employ etc. If you intend on it being a 'one man band' type of business you won't qualify for an investment visa as the whole point of the visa is to create jobs for Americans. Also there is HUGE competition in the recruitment industry, even bigger than in the UK, so you would be wise to research it fully. This also doesn't lead to a green card, needs renewing every few years and once your kids turn 21 they will have to qualify for their own visa or leave.

A little bit of money isn't going to qualify for the other type of investment visa, $500K+ is needed for that one!

It's certainly not easy is it!
