Wanting to work in America for a few months. Help!

I leave my job here in England on the 7th August with ambitions to go to America to work for a few months. Just wondering if anyone could help me by telling me whether this is possible and if so, where do I start? What visa will I need etc? Many thanks!

      Hi Carl,

Sorry this is a bit late, been on my hols. You didn't say how old you were, you could try companies such as Bunac, that's probably your best chance for short term work. For a 'real' work visa you would have to find a company who would offer you a job and be willing to sponsor you for a visa, this is extremely expensive for the company so you would need something extra special to offer them, the job and you must qualify for the visa requirements (H1B). Also the next start date for the H1B is Oct 2013, with applications being submitted from April 2012 (Oct 2012 quota is full).
