Thread: Accents

I'm just in the process of updating the OS on my iphone and was reading through the bug fixes and reasons why i should update and one that caught my eye was a fix to a problem with the voice recognition not recognising the Australian accent. I must admit it is a bit whiney but probably easier to understand than the gordie and less anoying than the brummies.
Me, I don't actually have an accent.

I like all sorts of accents but the ones that grate on my nerves have to be the Kent/Essex that kind of area and the Glaswegian accent. I like all Northern UK accents, the Geordie accent I love, I actuall like the Scouse accent and the Southern coastal accents too. Welsh I love....in terms of Aussie accents I havent quite got the hang of licking the areas but the accent on the comedy show Housos gets on my wick....I love Spanish and German accents....also Southern Irish but not Northern.....but I have noticed that regardless of accent you cant generalise re the character of that person just because of the way they speak! Ive met lots of lovely people from all over the world so accent is not really all that important. I think its a shame when people try hard to lose their accent for fear of being judged. My accent has softened since we came to Australia, Its funny to call family and friends and hear that accent in its purest form...am looking forward to our holiday later this year to go back to being surrounded by the one accent...will be strange no doubt.
