THE number of Britons emigrating to Australia each year has almost halved, according to new figures published by British media. Britain's Office for National Statistics has released data showing that residents of Blighty are leaving at their lowest rate for more than a decade.
While Australia remains one of the favourite destinations for Brits leaving home, the statistical report shows that in 2010 about 28,000 people made the move Down Under, compared with 49,000 in 2006, Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper reported.
The data follows news of record numbers of Britons leaving Australia.

British expats in Australia told the BBC that the idea of being able to live a cheaper life in Australia no longer exists, with basic commodities including bread, milk, fruit and petrol comparatively more expensive.

What's it like living back in the UK, do you miss Australia (oops I mean Spain)

I miss spain a lot but on balance the Uk and spain are equally great places to live.

Seriously though, is there nothing at all that you miss? I mean cal lives in the same area that you where doesn't she...there must have been good bits?? Im honestly, seriously interested to know. Im very sorry you had a bad time, must feel awful not being happy...how long were you in Oz? I know you left around the time I arrived...trying to avoid me, lol. You didnt have to move countries you know Im not that much of a bunny boiler

I miss ease of parking but that's about it,,, TBH i wasn't really unhappy, just bemused and dissapointed.

Bemused...thats how I feel when people dont like Oz, funny old world innit! Dont you miss the beaches or the scenery at all?? As for knickers in the post shhhh everyone will want a pair (of Kates knickers) I dont wear any, too hot in Perth mate!

I honestly didn't rate the scenery in australia, the beaches where stunning to look at because of the white sands if you're not into surfing europe's beaches are just as good - if not better, the surf clubs dont come anywhere near a greak beach bar or Spanish chiringuito (IMO). Whitsunday Islands are spectacular but after you have given your eyes a treat it gets boring, the nearest comparison i suppose would be the Caribbean and IMO and from experiencing both the caribbean wins (less straylians).

Lol, I'm so sorry you didnt like it, it's like I take it personaly lol. I know what youre saying though, if youre into that european beach bar/cafe culture its nothing like is it.....didint the missus and kids like it either? Would you try another state or do you really believ all of Oz is not for you? Ive met some cracking Aussies here you know, salt of the earth...
