We don't seek out Brit's but tend to make friends with them when we do meet them, I guess it's that whole thing we have in common etc. Although only one set of friends are actually on the same visa as us, most moved for love or bought a business out here.

I have to say that I am missing our own 'breed, and that's one of the reasons for joining here! Don't get me wrong, we have good friends where we live, but sometimes they just don't get us! We have had a lot of 'lost in translation' moments...............anyone else felt like that?

I'm happy talking to anyone that'll listen where-ever they're from but its true that birds of a feather flock together and being amongst "your own" is a bit like a comfort blanket. when i lived in spain i used to look forward to the tourist season. All the brits with there lobster sunburn and the li-lows under there arms walking to the beach... bless em.. they was there to have a good time and good luck to them i say..

tbh ive had more trouble and problems with Brits (at work ect ) ! i get on very well with almost anyone from anywhere , for some reason i mix very well with Indians! I have a good Aussie friend and also a Romanian friend. Where we live is multi cultured too our neighbours are Italians , Aussies, Chinese and 10 pound poms and thats the way i like it . Yes jonesclan its good to meet and have a laugh with our own kind now and again but i could not go back to living in a close knit community with "our own kind "......
