Thread: Glasgow Life Expetancy 53 years

I was shocked to hear on the ABC news yesterday that parts of Glasgow only have a life expectancy of 53 years old. I thought I must have misheard but did a search and there it was, although the article is from 2008, I wonder if there is no change seen as they were discussing the same figures yesterday. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/s...st/7584450.stm

That is incredible but I suppose to be fair in Glasgow overall it is over 70, the 54 years does relate to a specific area. It is still amazing in this day and age when in the UK generally it is over 80 and rising.

poor diet, and social conditions contribute to much of this me thinks, despite the advent of expensive housing in Glasgow, there remains much deprivation, driving me trains up there you could see it along the track it was horrible
