    Negativity in the forums??

Thought I'd ask in here as it won't descend into a slanging match

I'm trying to put my finger on why there is so much negativity in the forums at the moment.

Not just from one side but from both the UK and here in Oz.

Winter blues here - can't sell house /lousy exchange rates in the UK?

    Negativity breeds negativity!!

I think Cal hit the nail on the head in Earlswoods latest postings on PIO! She said that "you look for negative, you will find negative".

Some people arent happy wherever they are, they have a comfort zone and are aggro when they are moved out of their comfort zone!

So you move here and you dont have Bisto gravy....GET OVER IT!!!
So you move here and you dont have as many friends.....MAKE SOME MORE!
So you move here and your social life is crap.....GET OUT THERE AND MEET PEOPLE!!!

I am a firm believer that you move somewhere that you embrace the culture of where you have moved to and you accept the country for what it is! After all you chose to move here right!! Live with what you have and make the most of it & dont bellyache about what you dont have!!

I think negativity happens for that simple reason! People are out of the comfort zone and cant function!!

Me, Im a POZZIE and loving every minute of it!! LOL!

    (Rant over!!)

I think you have hit it on the head - House prices and exchange rates - I also think that folk are finding that AUstralia is not neccesarily the land of the golden goose, house prices are expensive, petrol going up and food. Wages are not keeping up with the general increase and working conditions are on occassion not as good as the Uk.

Also certainly on some forums started in the last few years - there are many folk who were members of these forums with all the enthusiasm that went with it perhaps two years ago are now finding that things are very different a few years on that what they were expecting and the realisation of what it really means when being a Brit Abroad.

It is a strange phenomenan with forums as for some folk the whole process from the start of migrating to where they are now has been documented through threads and posts!

It must also be noted that only a very small percentage of posts are this way inclined - the majority - 99% are still the norm.

I think that you are dead right too there Tim. What they think they will get and what happens are widely different. My parents are already finding that things are dearer, exchange rate etc and thats just from starting the CPV process early 2007.

ye imagine ,lol,, i dont think so Jo ,but then again your mod on there too now so you can sort the backlash, lol!!

Some people expect to pick up where they left on in the uk and thats wont happen its like starting out all over again ,scrimping ,scraping and sometimes lonely,i also find lots of people want freinds and jobs brought to them ,they dont want to put the effort in just want to reap the rewards.
Of course there are genuine unhappy guys, who i do feel a little bit sorry for ,mainly seems to be the ones who have left close family behind and just cant settle but again ,stop moaning ,book a flight,& go home and if you cant cause the other half dosnt want to ,then its time to look at your relationship too ,mine involves give and take!!

    Cal x

Remember the road to success is always under construction...

I stay away from most negative posts but the ones that really get me are the ones where people are still in England and say ....oh I have heard this and I have heard that..........for cryin out load..you don't move your family to the other side of the world because of something you've heard....get off your arse and do a bit of bloody research like the rest of us have done and if at the very begining of the process your worrying about missing M&S then i'm afraid you aint gonna stand a chance once you get to Aus
That was a rant.......but is now over!!
