Thread: Do Aussies "bleat too much" ?

Great article on the aussie "sporting" mentality.

But there is something else, something subconscious.
We are no longer a colony but we are not a republic either.
These royals, in some vague way, still lord it over us. We are still their subjects.
This insecurity about our place in the world fuels our manic need to show them up - and conjure excuses when we fail.
And this insecurity is not confined to royal race meetings.

But we bleat too much

Oh shush...thats not 'fair or balanced'.....slapped wrists. Aussie pride....go Aussies! The Brits could learn a thing or two, support your countries sporting heroes for better or worse!

I'll give you shush!! My piont is not about supporting your country, god knows the English have some pretty poor sporting sides but we stick by them loyally and will celebrate sportingly whether its the winners cup or the wooden spoon. Now compare this to the wailing, scapegoating (escape goating lol) and dummy spitting that goes on when the Aussies get anything but 1st place. Supporting a side should mean standing by them through thick and thin.

Some thing to balance things out in case anyone should think i'm being anti aussie. I hope Hewitt kicks that goose necked jocks tartan ars3. That is of course id hewitt plays, I'm sure he'll "battle" through it though (being an aussie)
