Friend has a bit of a quandry at the moment.Daughter of 15 ,does well at school ,few nice friends polite and happy at home. Now a few months ago started to become withdrawn , lost a bit of weight but was a little chunky, spends a lot of time on the computer doing'homework' and when asked says every thing is ok,no problems at school, friends usual selves. But she has an FB account ,parents never looked but she always keeps her passwords written down in a little locked diary next to her bed.I said I wouldn't look, but now I don't know any advice..?

Two words.....Look and act. FB is dangerous for kids...as is the internet in general.

I would be interested in what was going on, there sounds to be something, it could be bullying, it could be she has fallen out with a friend. At least they would know what they were faced with and help her through.

Internet bullying is a huge problem, there was a well reported case just recently in Brisbane (?) where a young girl committed suicide because of it. I would be getting to the bottom of it very quickly.

Until my kids are at least 16 ,i have the passwords to any accounts they hold, be it facebook, hotmail etc . If anything ever happened because id given them a free reign i would never forgive myself. Its better to put up with a stroppy teenager moaning about mum checking their account ,than recieveing that dreaded call.

My daughter uses my email account. I question why she would need her own unless theres something she doesnt want me to see. She used to have a FB account but after some problems thats now gone. Internet access under direct supervision only is my policy. They dont need it...dont buy into the pressure to give it to them.

My children are allowed on FB with some rules. 1. I have the passwords to their accounts and they know that if they give me cause for concern I will look. 2. The moment it interferes with school work - their accounts will be suspended. 3. I am one of their 'friends' which allows me to see what's posted on their walls

. Thanks for all those comments.&$&@&$. Has done what Ali has done,it was only a falling out between friends, huge if your 15 I suppose! But her mum feels more at ease Her daughter only had an FB account as she had difficulties fitting in and she thought it would help. They have 5 friends between them...!!!!!!!Personally I wouldn't bother. Thanks again for the comments.
