Thread: My take on the UK versus Australia.

I am feeling in a very up mood today and I am going to stick my neck out and say in no uncertain terms that I actually like both countries very much indeed. To be fair I dislike many things about both places and I don't particularly like the way this country has gone in recent times as far as things that directly affect us, there are to be fair things that have changed in the UK that we aren't keen on as well but on balance the UK is where we want to be. From the facts and figures point of view unemployment is practically the same, utilities the same, food seems cheaper in the UK, petrol is cheaper but seems to be balanced by rego costs here. Overall much of a muchness except the weather and if sun and surf is what does it for then there is no contest, for us it accounts for about 10% of our decision.
For many people Australia is their dream destination and although some will find it hard to believe the same applies to the UK. Both countries can give you a very comfortable lifestyle and to a large degree it comes down to what you are willing to put in.

I love both countries and i think a lot do, I think what upsets people is when one person try's to push their views on others. It's normal if you aren't happy with somewhere then you cant see any good in it.

I also believe that some people should lighten up too. Some take things so personally and get really defensive.

I suppose with a forum people can't see expressions and what some see as banter some see as offensive.

That has always been the thing about forums, you know exactly what you are saying and how it should be taken but of course you can't know how others are going to take it. I'll just keep doing what I have been doing though I know you wouldn't have me any other way Kate.

People who take you the wrong way usually have their own agenda or are so up their own backsides they cant see the wood from the trees. if people fail to recognise banter or 'take offence' at things posted on an online forum then they really ought to get out more....

Yes i agree, do you notice how some people resort to name calling, sure fire sign that there getting wound up, still were all here for a good time

in addition, what I like best about this forum is the minimal number of idiot posters and the fact that people seem to understand and respect eachothers point of view, having a laugh without it getting silly.
