Yes very sad about Andy M. We decided to stop up and watch the match after all so didn't get to bed till the "wee hours" and not feeling very special today

Okay I've got your guy in the panama hat!!! Y'know I always thought it was Federer's Dad as he always seemed to be in the box when he was playing but not so. The name is David Shearing and here's an article about him - very interesting.

So Murray's out what a shame but beaton by the better & more determined guy on the day.

Who will win the ladies singles ? I would love to see Venus beat her sister.

Skink thanks for that bit of news about the mysterious man in the Trilbe i was keen to know who he was like Liz and now we know.

    Federer to win.

Yes, determination and confidence ---- which seem to be an integral part of the US culture. Brits , on the other hand seem much less confident of their abilities.

    Yes,Venus and Roger !

Oh! Oh! Maybe I should change my choice for tomorrow. It seems that whomever I choose is the unlucky one. Maybe I do jinx things!

Due to prior commitments, I did not see the Venus/Serena game live. Did watch some highlights. Did I see Serena give a fist pump after winning a point from her SISTER?

Yes I think she did. Thought Venus wasn't her usual self - without taking anything away from Serena who was really on the ball (literally).

So.... Roger or Andy? I think it could go either way. Roddick is looking really hot this year and Federer does occasionally falter, but there again..... Guess I'm sitting on the fence on this one.

A well deserved win for Sarena who thrashed her bigger older sister.

Am watching the mens at the moment and Roddick is 1 set up.

Would love to see Roger Fed beat Sampras's record today as he's in the crowd.

Well, he did., but it was a long grind. But in the end it is the one who wins 3 sets that wins the prize. Yes, I saw Sampras as well as Rod Laver, and Bjorn Borg two of my favourites.
I'm not sure what to think of the game. Federer did not seem to play his usual 'sparkling' tennis, perhaps because he wasn't allowed to do so. Roddick played well and seemed to dictate the type of match it turned out to be --- mainly hardhitting -- from the backcourt. Personally, I prefer a more 'finesse' game.

Was glad to see a huge, well - mannered crowd who showed appreciation for the efforts of both players.

Great match, very loooong which meant another late night in the wee hours again here in Asia. I'm exhausted

Think you're right Liz. Federer wasn't allowed to execute his normal game and I guess that's the way to get at him. I must say I was kinda hoping that Roddick would make it through. Anyways...... there's always next year.....

Felt sorry for Roddick as i don't think he's ever won Wimbledon but he was a well deserved finalist and on the day the best man won.

I now have a great admiration for Roddick as he's made a good come back and would love to see him or Murray win the US Open, but who will stop Nadal, Federer or Del Potro ? remains to be seen.
