    Australia where is the work?

The number of jobs advertised online and in newspapers rose for the 11th straight month in March, as demand for labour accelerated amid the reconstruction in Queensland.
Total job advertisements on the internet and in newspapers increased 1.3 per cent in March to be 19.2 per cent higher than in March 2010, the ANZ job advertisements survey showed today.
Newspaper job ads fell 0.4 per cent in the month, while internet job ads rose 1.4 per cent. In Queensland, newspaper job ads fell 2.9 per cent in March, after a 32.6 per cent rise in February. Queensland job ads are 15 per cent higher than a year ago and well above pre-flood levels.

ANZ head of Australian economics and property research Ivan Colhoun said the increase in jobs ads came despite diverse rates of economic growth between regions and industry sectors.

"In trend terms, the rate of increase in job advertising has moderated to around 1.4 per cent per month in recent months, which is slower than in the early phase of the recovery from the global financial crisis," Mr Colhoun said. "At face value, this might suggest a continuation of the more moderate rates of employment growth that have been witnessed in recent months." Mr Colhoun said the broadly stable unemployment rate of five per cent since December is indicative of an economy growing around trend. "This should not generate significant broad-based wages or inflationary pressures and would be consistent with the RBA retaining an unchanged interest rate setting for some time," he said. "Higher oil and food prices in recent months, however, are troubling central banks around the world and will also be weighing on the Reserve Bank's mind. ANZ continues to expect a further modest tightening of monetary policy in the second half of this year."

Newspaper job ads rose 6.1 per cent in Victoria, 2.1 per cent in the ACT and 19.8 per cent in the Northern Territory.

However, they fell 4.9 per cent in Western Australia, 1.0 per cent South Australia and was down 11.0 per cent in Tasmania, 1.7 per cent in NSW and 2.9 per cent in Queensland.

Things have definitely slowed VERY quickly over the last few months, unemployment up, retail hit big time, construction down, manufacturing through the floor. Some isolated areas are still 'booming' but for the majority times are tough.
Doesn't make it a bad place to live, it's just the facts.
