    I've got a job!!!!

I got a phone call just about 1/2 hour ago to say I've got a job!!!
It's in Bunnings Warehouse on the shopfloor serving and stacking shelves. Nothing to glamorous, but it's what I actually fancy doing, and it's only 10 minutes from home.
I was the assistant branch manager for a large well known builders merchant in Britain and with the exchange rate as it is, this job works out at about 60 pence an hour less than what I was on. Just shows that some empolyers take the mick.:realmad:
With this job I get paid overtime aswell!
Got to take my paperwork in tomorrow.
Thats set me up nicely for the weekend!

Just thought I'd share it with you all.

    Thanks Sheena,

I go for two days of induction on Tuesday/Wednesday at Mount Gravatt (1/2hr away). If that one isn't available the next one is 27 of July. Either way I'm not bothered, just glad I've got something.
Out of 20+ CVs sent/hand delivered this was the only reply I got. crap really. I won't mind if they'd write or email, no sodoff we've got nowt. At least you'd know.

    Wink

congratulations on getting your job, it is difficult here for some, you apply get no answers. I am happy to say I have also got a job, started last night doing a training night shift, I am working with clients with cerebal palsy. I have had other jobs eg worked for a large well known nursing home, but I walked out after 2 months as I have never worked under these circumstances before it was horrendous. Fortunately its not taken long to get another , hope Sheena your next with some good news.:v_SPIN:

Congratulations. I know what it's like to not be working - I'm not on a work visa, I'm on a spouse visa so I still maintain my career in the UK as much as I can. It's much easier to settle in and make friends if you're working, although most people we meet ask my husband what his job is and not me as if they assume I'm not working anyway. You can start to feel invisible if it happens too often! So good on you to be doing something you're gonna get paid for!

Thanks for asking Andy and thanks for not spilling the beans Sheena.

I have been in the job almost 3 months now and I absolutely love it. It's the best job I have ever had. I look forward to going to work, I go in on my days off to see people and chat. Best of all though is, a few weeks ago the complex manager (in over all charge of the 170 that work there) said he has been impressed with what he has seen of my work and all the reports he is getting off everyone in the place. He asked me if I wanted to go on to the future leaders course!! Business diploma and management! I said that I'm still on my 3 month trial period to see if I'm suitable for the job I'm doing. He said I can forget about that unless I really f*^^ it up in the next few weeks.
All I do is turn up for work, work to the very best of my ability every day and, I impressed them. I've always had the same work ethic, but here they actually pat you on the back and appreciate the hard work you put in.
Well chuffed and couldn't be happier.:spinny:

    Frank
