    looking for work

Hi All from miserable uk I am so fed up living here, the politics and weather are really getting me down.
I am thinking of just taking off to Europe and looking for work as I go. I am an experienced carer and there must be plenty of elderly brits out there that need some help at home from a kind caring lady. What do you think guys? Jo:wub:

If your still young & healthy then Go for it, what have you got to lose.
Give it 6 months to a year see how you get on.

Can your job be kept open in the UK just in case, are you self employed.

Big risk but may well be worth taking.

    Hi Andy
Thanks for your reply - well I guess I'm not so young any more, but I am healthy and experienced - so maybe I will just sell up and take off. I lost my job last week and there's not so many around. Still I'll keep looking till I make up my mind. Jo

    Hi jogold

Sounds like you're in the early stages of forming a plan! Although things never work out the way we forsee them it's absolutely worth trying if you're curious or you'll always be wondering 'what if..'

If it was me I would try to have one temporary job to go to to start with as being in a new place with no friends and no work can seem a bit of a nightmare if you're on your own.

Any particular country - what languages do you speak?

    Hi Jo,
Id say go for it, if you dont try it you'll never know. You sound like you have a good idea of what you want to do and if you will have some ££ to help you on your way then it all sounds totally doable to me.

Good luck and keep us updated on your plans

Thanks to all for your lovely support and encouragement, I speak a little Spanish so maybe I shall expand on that and go for it - like I say I need to think things through a bit more and plan a bit maybe. I have always been one to act on impulse and its time to be a little more careful. Jo

    Hi,
Just something to think about. Canada requires all types of workers.
We're going over there at the end of November on a two year contract, and hopefully six months down the line we can apply for permanent residence.
    Best of luck

Hi Carrie, thanks for your input, I think I am too old to make Canada on my own, however if I meet a nice Canadian guy that might help me get there. Good Luck!!
