I will miss the ease of getting a car insured, it's not any cheaper when you include CTP but it is much easier.

Yes but you have car tax and MOT's to pay as well as higher fuel costs.
Just looked up and car tax on mine would be 455gbp say 50gbp for MOT and that's if you don't need anything doing. Plus Fully Comp insurance 400gbp total 955gbp.
Over here my insurance fully comp is $500 and Rego $328 and CTP $307 a total of $1135

Gas guzzling cars are rightly IMO being penalized.

Of course, as with everything it depends on the individual. We are getting a Prius so road tax is £20 a year, an MOT can be done for as little as £35 so I would be well ahead on that vehicle but each situation is different.

I agree with that, no problem at all. the more you pollute the more you pay. I can buy any number of cars that will only cost me £20-30 a year in road tax so I'm not restricted really.

I wouldn't say mine is a gas guzzling car, it's an Hyundai Tuscan yet still came up at 445gbp so for me here is cheaper.

A quick question what kind of car falls in to the A, B ,C, D category?
