According to a recent survey by Mintel, adults who live in Yorkshire are the happiest people in the United Kingdom![]()
The annual British Lifestyles study found that almost 60% of the county's residents are satisfied with their lives, compared to a national average of 50%.
Londoners, on the other hand, are the least content; less than half declared themselves happy.
The statistics, Mintel claims, show a correlation between happiness and the amount of open space in a given area.
Yorkshire, with its rolling countryside, is far more conducive to contented living than the UK's cramped capital.
The survey also highlights an interesting difference in the views of younger and older respondents; only one in ten of those aged between 25 and 54 claimed to be very satisfied with their lives, compared to around 20% of people aged 55 or over.
