Hi, I live near Salvador in Brazil. Is there a local expat meeting place in Salvador?

I get the feeling I am the only one on this web site that lives in Brazil north of Rio!! Maybe after the floods there, the others will come north to the warmer weather in Salvador?

Bahia is different to most of Brazil-----I have seen this first hand in 9 other states and my Brazilian friends say it is true. There is a strong African influence along with American cowboy music influence to create unique blend of a culture built around music. They are laid back and friendly.

It sounds like a cool place to be. I have some friends living over in Sao Paulo, but haven't been there to visit them yet.
I think people probably underestimate the size of Brazil as a country, and the cultural diversity of it.
Is it actual american "country music" (used to be called country and western at one time) or a blend of that and something else?
