      Help

      Hi all,
my name is fergle and im 20 years old and from the uk, I recently got sacked from my job and i am completely lost for work in the uk.
I've reviewed my options for work in the uk and it doesnt look good for me as the only qualifications I have are GCSC'S.
So I need your help guys to advise me on what I should do about working abroad as I have no idea where to start, obviously like i previously stated i have no qualifications higher then GCSE so could only work in bars restraunts etc.. But where do i start looking for that kind of work and accomodation? Or if anny one could advise a website with jobs on that would be great, like I say any help would be helpful guys, thank you very much and i shal look forward to using the site,

      thankyou.

Hi Fergle and welcome to BA.........I first came over to Oz on a twelve month working visa but that was nearly 30 yrs ago so I really don't know how easy they are to obtain these days but Im sure they are available . Its a good way to test the water and get some contacts ,I suppose you would have to stay at a backpackers place but there are plenty of them until you have enough money to house share ect .......good luck .......btw will the company that sacked you give you a good reference /CV ect .....? also whilst still in the uk would you be willing to go to say a welding college/day/night school to learn the basics of welding as there are plenty of 2nd class welding jobs around and is always a good thing to have under your belt ....

I was ideally wanting to stay in europe if I could but if the chance arose else where I wouldn't have a problem, i'm not sure about how easy it is to get a visa for oz but I should imagine it would be quite hard to obtain one seeing as I don't have a trade or extra qualifications. But yeah my company would be willing to give me a good reference as I fell out with a few people but there would still be a few to give me a good refernce and i qould be willing to go to college for further qualifications but would need to find out more about the type of qualifications that would be benefit me the most. My dad is a scaffolder and I was thinking maybe doing this and seeing where that would get me what do you think tonyman?

Tonyman is correct you could go for the WHV (Working Holiday Visa) it is easy to obtain as long as you meet the basic requirements. Under 30 and want to travel and work in Australia?

My advice, is keep studying and progressing via college, and uni if you can too, makes you more employable overseas in some countries and your life will also be a bit nicer/ easier if you pick a skilled profession.

Trying to escape the UK for lack of quals etc is not going to make it easier when you get overseas, but if anything more difficult. You're all still very young so plenty of time yet to go overseas to live and work. Nothing wrong with a bit of job experience and a working holiday to have a taste of what to expect though.

      Good luck.
