Maybe your answers will help. Our pension is paid into uk ( not the bigger pension yet ) We leave it there. We live on interest from the money we bought over and use hole in wall if emergency. It seems to work.
We have been here nearly 2 years. I thought we would be welcome with open arms by any Brits. I thought we would be close and have a common bond. Hah !!

We choose England to go back to.....cant wait ..xxxxx
      Good luck going back home
The situation in the UK is not really good at the moment i am afraid, i left just 2 months ago for Germany.
The country is in a real recession and i hope everything will work well for you despite the crysis. Good Luck

Hi..I'm Joyce and I live in Australia, have been here for 38 years and can't really understand those who can't make a go of it! Maybe it's because they know they can return to their homeland if disgruntled - it helps to burn your bridges and you HAVE to stay! However I also like Canada,India, Singapore and so on! At the moment I am trying to trace a Canadian airman wartime friend to say "Hi...how are you doing?" His name is HARRY DALE and he came from Toronto, his family emigrated from Yorkshirfe. Can anybody help? or give me clues on where to look? Thanks...

Hi Joyce - I'm in California and although the move has not been easy I'm certainly not thinking of going back. That said I have my Mum in the UK who is not in the best of health and both my husband and me know that I would drop everything to go back and take care of her if she needed it - there's some bridges I just don't want to burn! I also think some people need to step outside their situation to realise just what they have but I'm with you that they should make a go of it. I think this forum is great for giving support and encouragement to those who are maybe not finding the transition all that easy but at least they made that first step. We're committed to being here at least 3 years but we've already put in for permanent residence so we're definitley optimistic! And I only have to check the weather back in the UK to know I did the right thing LOL!

I hope you find your friend - I'm not sure where you would start searching - come on Sheena, you're the Oracle!
