Hi From the land of smiles

Hi everyone I am living in Thailand at the moment, and though it is called the land of smiles my smile has been knocked off my ace while I sort something out back home. Enough of that though.
I am teaching in Thailand at the moment and love it. I moved here with my wife and 2 children over a year ago and the pace and lifestyle suit me well. I am, you see, very laid back. I lived here before teaching then went back to Wales for 7 years, but decided to come back here as home was starting to look too dodgy. I always intended coming back but this just speeded my decisiion. i wanted my kids (who are 4 and 1 1/2) to experience life in another country as youngsters.
I was looking at a few forums to get advice and general chat about personal matters and general things andhave joined a thai forum and wanted a more generalised one. This is it so again a pleasure to be here and I hope that I can help other as well as being helped myself. I am off to see if there is a sport forum as I'm obsessed with it

    Cheers

Greetings Nelly and a hearty welcome. I visited Thailand last year. How are you finding the expat culture out there?

There is a thriving expat comunity in Thailand. Though where I live there is nothing like it, as thre are only a couple of us here and we are all teachers. If I travelled 30 miles I would be in a town called Roiet that has a good expat community. To really get in amongst it you would need to live near a beach or city though.

I would imagine that wherever you went when you came here would have had expats everywhere. It is only in the sticks that there are so few.

    Cheers

I went to Bangkok and tbh didn't see any expats (to my knowledge). Appeared to be all locals. Anyhoos I hope your issue in UK is unravelling itself and working out for you. If you feel like venting on here we're all good listeners and who knows perhaps somecan can help/assist you.

Hope you enjoy the forum Nelly
