Huh? Hi there to all who have set their sails and made their move

    Hiya All,

I have joined this forum for advice and information. I'm sure given the busyness of the forum that I will find the answers here that I seek. Before I go any further I'll tell you all a little about myself. I'm a 40 year old computer game developer (yes my picture is recent I must wear well lol) and as such can work pretty much anywhere in the world with an internet connection which kinda helps the main area regarding income when out of ones comfort zone in a new place. I also used to DJ on the radio so if push comes to shove I could probably find additional DJ work in a bar or local radio station catering for British tourists/citizens (only of use in a busy place obviously). I guess the only two things I really know for sure are that 1) I want to live abroad and 2) I should be ok for work wherever I go (within reason). So on that premise my key things that I'm here to find out are...

    1) A cheap country and place to rent/buy with low utility bills and food expenses (don't we all) :)
    2) A low crime rate
    3) Warm Climate

If I have those three I think I'll be happy anywhere. I'm pretty sociable and adaptable to my surroundings so I'm pretty happy with any suggestions I get from forum users on here. Anything better than a shanty for accommodation greatly appreciated lol. So if you have any suggestions then that would be great. I know it looks like I haven't got any definitve ideas of what I want to do really but to be honest I'm open to any suggestions for any country in the world. Warzones are not on the requested suggestion list please.

Thanks for taking the time to read my waffle and accepting me into your fold. :)

    Marcus.

Hi Marcus and welcome to the forum. As we all know cost of living is rising in many countries but for a warm climate Perth, Western Australia fits the bill! Let us know how you get on.

No offence Tilly but yes Perth fits the bill except for the fact that it doesnt have a low crime rate and isn't cheap. :) I'm not really sure if there are many places in the world that would give you even 2 of those things let alone all 3.

The Costa del Sol has (still) 1000's of expats and loads of English speaking radio stations. The Marbella area alone is heaving in the summer with beach clubs and night clubs. If you are interested i can forward you a contact who is resident at a night club and event organiser in the area.

That would be brilliant Aldo, thank you very much. Also thanks again Tillfloss. Don't think I fancy Bulgaria too much unless it was close to a beach but not the rural areas kinda reminds me of Straw Dogs too much :)
