Hey there,
Does anyone have any tips for handling homesickness. I have been in Aus a while now and it has been great, just missing home a bit lately. Any tips will be welcome.
Cheers,
Ven

Call your mates Ven, and ask them to tell you how things are at home.
Honestly, homesickness is hard to deal with. Some of us seem to get it and others don't.
When I feel homesick (and even now I still do) and it lasts longer than a few days, I usually start looking at flights home and book one for later in the year so that I have something to look forward to.
If I couldn't go home a couple of times a year I'd probably go crazy here anyway ;)
Hi purple,
Thanks for that. I think I have been fighting the urge to call back as I think it will make it worse, however will give it a go. Booking a flight is a good one too, at least you always have that fallback.
Cheers - i'll let you know how it goes.

Hey Ven
I make sure and call my mates and family regularly. I speak to my parents once a week.
Even being out of the UK for 9 years I still never lost touch with my old friends.. honestly, how can you really replace the people you were around and close to for so long?
I find that sometimes talking to your friends and family about it can help you realise it's not a bed of roses back there either, then you don't feel so bad about it. There's things I miss, and things I don't miss too much, and I'm sure you're the same. I do miss my old friends though, and the things I used to do with them.
Looking forward to going home to England and having the flight booked is a huge motivator to me. Even if it's 5 or 6 months away in the future, it's a firm date to look forward to so I don't suffer with homesickness because I know I won't be too long before I'm over there again. Of course, I know I'll have to come back here again at the end of the holiday, but that's my life right now so it's unavoidable, and it's home for now too. Besides, seems that I've done that part so many times now that I'm used to it. ;)
Keep in touch
